An Apparel Training Design Centre (ATDC) at DIC Complex in East Imphal - Manipur was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.

Manipur as a state has many ethnic communities with their own traditional apparel. This provides a lot of scope for the fashion industry to develop in the state based on these traditional garments.

ATDC, under the aegis of Apparel Export Promotional Council (AEPC) has emerged as India’s largest vocational institute with over 135 ATDC- SMART Centres and Skill Camps present in major apparel clusters spread across 22 states & 85 cities across India.

ATDC Centers provide training across various stages of apparel manufacturing like, sewing machine operators, pattern engineer, machine technicians / mechanics, surface ornamentation specialists, apparel production supervisors, quality controllers, industrial engineers, etc.

ATDC Centers have emerged as the preferred source for skilled shop floor workforce for Indian garment factories.

Among others, the inauguration was attended by Manipal Commerce Minister - Govindas Konthoujam, AEPC Chairman - Virender Uppal, and ATDC CEO Dr Darlie Koshy.
