To Showcase Perspective of Apparel Industry, AEPC, in collaboration with CNBC TV, is organizing a Media Talk Show at 6.00 PM on Friday, the 8th February, 2008, at Apparel House, Gurgaon. Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes has agreed to join the Show.
The rupee has appreciated 11 percent between January and November last year. Garment exporters' margins have been squeezed, the government has given relief in three tranches, but it has not helped.
The appreciation of the rupee is a fact of life with which exporters will have to learn to live. So we go beyond sops and BEYOND BUDGET 2008 (which is the name of the show) to focus on lasting competitiveness of the Indian apparel industry. Labour reforms are key.
The Council is a nodal agency sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India entrusted with the dual responsibility of monitoring garment exports quotas and promotion of exports of readymade garments from India.
