General index of consumer prices for April were announced in Taipei City, Taiwan. Prices were up by 1.21 percent than March this year and up by 3.7 percent than April last year.
Experts from the industry believe that hike in consumer price index was mainly due to trendy garment collection of this spring and summer season which have entered the market. Price of clothing went up 12.11 percent for spring and summer clothes.
It has been observed that the rise rate of garment products was the highest among others which may have been driven by high international rates for oil.
In the first four months, prices in Taiwan recorded an increase of 3.65 percent compared to last year while clothes in particular saw a surge of 2.62 percent. On the whole there has been an inflationary effect with prices for most of the consumer goods showing an upward trend.
