During the first 4 months of 2008, Vietnam earned nearly US $3.3 billion of foreign currency through exporting various products to US market. This represents a year-on-year boost of 19.8 percent, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).
In the month of April alone, the exports turnover to US reached almost $877.5 million, a rise of 3.4 percent over previous month and by 21 percent over corresponding period of 2007.
From the total revenue generated, textile and apparel products were the major contributors. Out of the total export that came up to $368 million in April, garment sector's share was 42 percent, witnessing a year-on-year increase of 23 percent.
