Well-known sports brand Adidas is doing preliminary studies on shifting its contract manufacturing activities, orders of which were till date given to Chinese manufacturers to Southeast Asia in gradual phases.

The industry estimates that the plan will affect nearly 300 contract manufacturing enterprises in Mainland China if it is implemented. Sources point out that two other sports brands Nike and Puma have similar intentions, too.

In fact, the trend of transfer of manufacturing of international brands to other countries has been noticed by China's textile industry since long. In the recently held Keqiao International Textile Fair, China Textile Industry Association disclosed that contract manufacturing is slowly and partially shifting from Chinese shores to India, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries.
