Biggest value retailer Megamart turns 15

Megamart, the retail arm of India's largest integrated textile manufacturer and leading branded apparel & retailer, Arvind Ltd., just turned 15.

On December 14, 1994, Megamart launched its first value retail outlet in Mahadevapura. This concept quickly gained favour among shoppers and soon Megamart grew into a preferred family shopping destination, spreading delight all over by enabling huge savings on quality brands, making the latest fashions affordable to one and all. Megamart symbolizing the fashion and value conscious urban youth aspirations, completely transformed the Indian Retail scene and ushered in the era of Value Retail in India.

Speaking on the joyous occasion, Mr. J Suresh, CEO - Arvind Brands & Retail said, “The last 14 years haven't been easy, but thanks to the immense support of our customers, employees and stakeholders, we have led the value retail revolution in India and will continue to do so. Megamart operates over a network of 130 stores in 45 cities across India, and has no plans of stopping. Amid its anniversary celebrations, Megamart is now stepping into the next major growth phase. Plans are afoot to aggressively expand the retail footprint in the next four years. The company plans on setting up another 15 to 20 Megamart Savings Malls around 400 small format stores across India, expanding to over 2.5 million square feet of retail space. Keeping in tune with this expansion and evolving customer expectation, the company has recently adopted a bold red and white identity that has today become a symbol of quality and value for money.

Mr. KE Venkatachalapathy, COO, Megamart adds, “Like our customers, Megamart too is extremely value conscious and therefore understand that a rupee less is a rupee saved. The company is very watchful in every rupee spent. Today, Megamart has the lowest operational costs in the industry, ensuring further savings for our customers.
