AAFA welcomes new staff member

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) is pleased to welcome a new member to its team. Scott Elmore joined the AAFA as Manager of Communications and Marketing. In this role, he will be responsible for media relations and outreach while advancing the mission of the AAFA and its membership.

“During this time of economic recovery, the apparel and footwear industries are looking to us for guidance and support,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “That is why I am excited to welcome Scott to our team. His background in international trade and his experience working directly with domestic businesses and manufacturers will serve our association well.”

Mr. Elmore most recently served in the Office of the United States Trade Representative where he was a spokesperson for Ambassador Susan C. Schwab on many of the issues facing the apparel and footwear industries, including the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement and several trade preference programs.

He also managed media strategy for the U.S. – China Joint Committee on Commerce and Trade and the Doha Round of trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization. Prior to USTR, Mr. Elmore led community outreach efforts with local businesses and organizations for Congressman Ric Keller in Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Elmore earned his Master's degree in Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida and his Bachelor's degree in American Studies from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
