The American Apparel & Footwear Association welcomed the announcement that President Obama intends to nominate former Washington Governor Gary Locke to be the next Secretary of Commerce.
“This is an important time for our economy and the apparel and footwear industries,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke.
“As governor of Washington, Mr. Locke has recognized the ways in which international trade can be an engine for economic growth and opportunity for businesses, manufacturers, and consumers. I look forward to his swift confirmation so that we can begin working together to harness the benefits of trade to move our economy forward and restore consumer confidence.”
