The students just completed a research seminar on the “History of Clothing”, led by Moni Mednick, Ronen Levin, Anna Solo, Yevgeny Meshenberg and Era Lev.

The research seminar on the history of clothing, is a theoretical and technical academic research which gives a comprehensive, historical perspective on the development of clothing from the classic period – Greece and Rome until the end of the 19th century, while the research work refers to clothing and fashion within the broad historical context.

Within the framework of the seminar the students research developments of clothing and fashion throughout the years, changes in proportions, shapes, silhouettes, color palettes, materials and the various influences of the world of fashion in each era. At the end of the process, they technically investigate a sample from the period of time they researched and bring results of their research to a ready garment created exactly according to the historical sources.

Display of the spectacular designs took place in Lorber Auditorium on the eve of Tu B'shvat. 50 students who modeled each other's designs took part in the event. On one stage, dresses of the Italian renaissance were shown, items in the Spanish style of the 16th century and suits in the Elizabethan style of the end of the 16th century. The event was attended by journalists, stylists, fashion producers, and members of the Shenkar Friends association, who came to view the breathtaking creations.
