Breakthrough in body scanning technology with 'Body-ScanFit'
Apr '09
Cad Modelling Ergonomics is launching a new portable body scanner. The Body-ScanFit scanner combines with FX-Fit software to offer a complete low-cost scanning system that can be used for both made-to-measure and mass customization garments.

According to the company, it takes just four seconds to scan a human body, creating a virtual model and converting it to a Formax real fit mannequin. It restores accuracy and real size of scanned people in 3D and measures people by extracting the right information.

Related to the “Physical body shape program” created by Silvio Quattrocolo and represented by Formax, Body-ScanFit is the perfect tool for realizing and improving both the made to measure and the mass customization productions.

Through the morphological shape of the scanned customer, the Body-Scanfit system allows the acquisition and extraction of anthropometrical measures in order to realize a made to measure garment.

Cad Modelling's classification software FX-FIT, which Body-ScanFit is integrated with, allows either the manual introduction of measurements, following software specific parameters or the standard acquisition of the measurements obtained through the scanning.

Through this new product, it is possible to acquire measures with accuracy, efficiency, simplicity and rapidity, create a customer's data-base in order to know and predict his future choices and offer the customer's online catalogue for sample pre-view.

One of the most important features of the Body-Scanfit is that it sends valid information to create garments to manufacturers, creating a virtuous circle among manufacturer- head-office (fitting control department), retailer and customer.
