International interest in the Brandix Green factory at Seeduwa remains high, as evidenced by the steady stream of visitors to this unique eco-friendly manufacturing complex.

Among the most recent visitors to the world's highest-rated environment-friendly apparel factory was a group led by delegates from the Indian High Commission and the Indian Foreign Service Institute in Colombo. The group included Ajai Choudhry – Dean of the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Santosh Jha – Counsellor (Economic & Commercial) and B. Shyam – First Secretary (Political) of the Indian High Commission.

Brandix Director AJ Johnpillai who conducted the group on a tour of the 130,000 square-foot facility commented: “We are honoured that our Green Plant continues to generate a lot of interest and is seen as an example for manufacturers in the region and other parts of the world. Visits of this nature help project Sri Lanka's image as a manufacturing location that is committed to environmental best practice.”

The Brandix Green Factory at Seeduwa is the first apparel manufacturing facility in the world to be rated Platinum under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The factory which is the Group's lead manufacturing plant for Marks & Spencer, achieved a score of 76 (12 points higher than the 64 required for Platinum status) on the 85-point LEED certification system, setting a global benchmark for low energy consumption, water conservation, solid waste management and low carbon emissions.

Furthermore, the Brandix Eco Centre was adjudged the National Winner for Sri Lanka at the Energy Globe Awards presented by the Energy Globe Foundation which was held in April 2009 at a ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic. The impressive environment-friendly indicators achieved by the Brandix Eco Centre also resulted in the Group being named one of three nominees for the Energy Globe World Award in the 'Air' category.

The pioneer of the concept of 'total solutions' in Sri Lanka's apparel sector, Brandix specializes in casual bottoms, intimate and active wear, textiles, knitted fabrics, sewing and embroidery thread, accessories and hangers, and also offers wet processing and finishing and fabric printing. Brandix is a preferred solutions provider to some of the world's leading apparel brands, including Gap, Marks & Spencer, Victoria's Secret, NEXT, Lands End, Abercrombie & Fitch and Tommy Hilfiger.
