In today's world of cut-throat competition, Customer Focused Merchandising (CFM) is the single most important factor that differentiates a company, be it in retailing or sourcing as in buying offices or in manufacturing.

Apart from the normal training, skills and knowledge, an environment needs to be created where sales personnel take pride in serving others.

Apart from just buying the product or service, customers should be made to feel a certain level of warmth and comfort to make the visit an unforgettable experience. It's this memory they retain, that keeps them coming back to the same store again and again.

Professionalism makes a CFM merchant shine above the rest. They should respond to the customer's needs quickly, especially in the world of fashion and apparel. They should keep proper track of their deadlines and should be comprehensive.

A smart CFM retailer merchant will apply all the skills that he uses with the external customer on the all important internal customers as well.
