Cebu maintains competitiveness in apparel production

Sep '09
Cebu, in Philippines is famous the world over for its home furnishings and fashion accessories, along with which, it has also maintained its prominence as a manufacturing base for high-end apparels.

It is the preferred sourcing location for many of the world's top high-end brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Abercrombie, Calvin Klein, Adidas, Nike and many others. This is more so, due to the skilled labour force available here.

Despite the fact that China has emerged as a favoured destination for most of the worldwide apparel retailers, Cebu has managed to maintain its market share on strength of its quality and high workmanship.

The economic turmoil has left its mark on garment manufacturing companies across most countries, but the competitiveness of the domestic enterprises in Cebu has enabled them to survive through the economic storm.
