Since the last few years, the business of recycling second hand clothing and selling them in the local markets has turned in to a thriving business in China. Most of these second hand clothing are imported in to China from Hong Kong.
There are a number of wholesale markets selling these re-furbished clothing. These garments are then sent to thousands of small units who re-furbish these garments, after which these apparels, then find their way into the local markets.
When these clothes are brought in to the country they are sold by tons, but after they are reconditioned, they are sold at per unit, bringing a high percentage of profits to the people involved in the trafficking of old clothing.
These activities are causing concern to the local administration as these clothes are not fumigated before bringing them in to the country, and could prove to be potential carriers of diseases for the local population.
