Families looking for affordable fashion in the District Heights-area are in luck -- AJWright will open a new location in the Penn Station Shopping Center.

Beginning Thursday, October 29, 2009, at 8:00 a.m., AJWright will open its doors to offer the community fresh fall fashions. AJWright is a leading off-price retailer that offers great deals on quality brand-name family apparel and footwear, accessories, home essentials, giftware, toys and more, all at up to 70 percent off discount and chain store prices.

The grand opening will feature an added bonus for early shoppers. The first 100 store visitors will receive a $20 gift card. The celebration will continue with an open casting call for aspiring AJWright models on Nov. 7, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"District Heights residents are invited to join us for this exciting community event and every day after that," said Kathy Clair, AJWright assistant vice president of marketing. "With name brands at a great price, our merchandise mix changes weekly. On any given day our customers can come in and find their own real deals."

AJWright regular store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The store will remain open until 10:00 p.m. Thursday to accommodate grand opening shoppers.

In addition to creating more than 50 new jobs in District Heights, AJWright has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of District Heights to support much-needed neighborhood programs. Grand opening festivities kick off Thursday at 7:45 a.m. with a special donation and presentation to the Boys & Girls Club of District Heights.

A representative from the Boys & Girls Club, as well as local dignitaries, will be present as AJWright makes a donation to the organization. AJWright supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of America on a corporate level with several programs throughout the year.

"We appreciate the generosity and involvement of AJWright," said Terry Boykins, president of the Boys & Girls Club of District Heights. "With these funds we can support essential community programs, especially for the upcoming holidays."

The celebration will continue after grand opening day with a contest to find the next face of AJWright. Customers are invited to model their favorite styles outside the store in an open casting call from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2009. The winner could be featured as a model in an AJWright advertisement and will receive $250, as well as the clothes they modeled.
