Garment sector euphoric over export order position

Two industrial sectors in particular are in a sense of euphoria over the changing trends in their overseas markets. Garment and footwear related industries are speaking about a deluge of orders which will help them run their factories right through 2009.

Since the beginning of the third quarter, the order position of most exporting companies from these two sectors has undergone a drastic change. They are receiving enough orders to keep their machines running full time now.

The last quarter, traditionally has been a busy time for most exporters as retailers place orders in time for the goods to hit their shelves in time for Christmas and the New Year and since retailers have exhausted their inventories, it is a very good period for the exporters.

Many companies, which had lain off workers during the lean period are now finding it difficult to replace them and in turn are requesting the existing workforce to work extra time in order to complete the orders in time.

Foreign invested enterprises like Epic Designers, Fashion Garment and Wacoat have pushed up production, while domestic producers Dong Nai and Dong Tien have recruited more workers and are expanding their infrastructure.
