According to Guangzhou Customs statistics, from January to September, garment exports from Guangdong reached US $16.33 billion, down 9.6 percent compared with same period last year.
Among them, September exports stood at $2.13 billion, down 7 percent year on year, though the decline narrowed 5.3 percent from the previous month.
Some analysts believe that the US economy will take the lead in recovery, coupled with the approaching Christmas festivities, China's garment exports to the United States will improve continually.
In the first three quarters, garment exports from Guangdong to the US realized $3.05 billion, up 12.9 percent year on year. Export value in July, August and September exceeded US $400 million each month.
September exports to the Unites States realized $440 million, up by 14.8 percent, the highest level increase in over a year.
In contrast, exports to the EU did not show obvious signs of improvement and despite the narrowing of negative growth in exports, export value of the recent two months still depict a decline.
