Recall of Chinese made clothing products on the rise

The spreading trend of recalls by Europe and the United States on children's clothing exported from China seems to have intensified since the outbreak of the financial crisis.

According to the latest statistics of China Textile Association, from January to September this year, China received 153 warning notifications from the European Commission Rapid Alert System (Non-food) on Chinese textile and apparel products, an increase of 6.29 times, year on year.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued 21 recalls on Chinese textile and apparel products, an increase of 10.53 percent year on year. Industry sources point out that they have ulterior motives and that Europe and the United States are seeking actual trade protection under the name of product recall.

Experts propose Chinese government, associations and enterprises work together actively to avoid risks of product recall and that the haze of the financial crisis has not yet dispersed and more frequent recalls on Chinese products, will cast a shadow on the recovery of China's exports of textile and clothing.
