Lanark-based golf brand sponsors new Scottish Winter Fourball

Glenmuir, the Lanark-based golf apparel brand, has agreed to sponsor a new competition in the Scottish golf professionals' calendar - the Scottish PGA Glenmuir Winter Fourball.

First played as a two-event trial in February 2009, the Scottish PGA has expanded the competition to four events, which will take place during November and December 2009 and February and March 2010.

Glenmuir is providing a four-figure sponsorship for the series, which attracted entries of around 20 -25 teams for each trial event and has a good prize fund at each. Colin Mee, Glenmuir managing director, said: "We are delighted to support this series, which is designed to keep Scottish PGA members playing competitively through the Winter but also serves as a great way for members to socialise.

"Clearly, the trial events last Winter were very well-supported by players and we hope this becomes a popular permanent fixture in the Scottish PGA calendar."

This season's first Scottish PGA Glenmuir Winter Fourball events takes place on November 23 at Irvine Golf Club, Bogside, with further events at Luffness New Golf Club (December), Montrose GC (February) and one to be confirmed in March.

Glenmuir is one of Europe's leading golf apparel brands and for 2010 has introduced more than 130 individual product lines in a massive array of colours, designs and exciting new fabric technologies.

The company has chosen three fresh and contemporary colour palettes for Spring/Summer 2010: 'Blue Stone' combines deep, rich blues with white and subtle stone; 'Lilac Haze' contrasts vibrant raspberry and lilac with strong black, white and stone colours; 'Paradise Mist' features cool grey and pale blue tones with white.

Glenmuir recently announced that it is to distribute the famous Sunderland of Scotland brand in Europe from January 1, 2010.
