It has been anticipated that Vietnamese domestic entrepreneurs would offer higher Tet bonuses to their employees in coming year due to the improvement in their business, whereas most of the local entrepreneurs have already offered one-month salary bonus in 2009.

Apparel industry workers expect to receive a three-month salary bonus before Tet holiday as the domestic enterprises have witnessed improvement in business situations and the enterprises have achieved 2009's profit plan two months earlier than expected.

One of the garment companies would offer Tet bonuses of around VND 5.5-6 million, which is VND 500,000 to VND one million more than last year's bonus, informed the Vice Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, Mr. Pham Xuan Hong.

He informed that the member enterprises of the association may also offer satisfactory bonuses, equivalent to two-month salary to their employees. Though the garment and textile industry failed to attain expected export value due to the global economic meltdown, business of the industry has improved over the past six months.

Struggling firms will also manage to give the bonuses, as well as the financial enterprises are likely to provide high Tet bonuses this year and it could be equal to five to six month's salary, informed an official of Vietnam Association of Financial Investors.

The labor ministry asked the entrepreneurs to divulge their bonus details by December 20 to make employees feel secure as well as to prevent disputes before and after the Tet holiday.
