According to statistics, Chinese domestic clothing consumption achieved an average annual growth of 14.72 percent from 2001 to 2008 and as per expectations it is projected to climb by more than 15 percent in 2009.
Although the Chinese apparel sector has been heavily impacted by the international financial crisis, which resulted in a slowdown; domestic clothing consumption provided a major boost for China's textile industry.
Along with steady and rapid development of China's economy, demand for textiles in automotive, construction, health, energy, aerospace, agriculture sectors are also on the rise.
Processing volume of industrial textiles surpassed 6 million tons in 2008, accounting for 17 percent of total processing volume of textile fibers in China.
