The amount of apparel imports by China, from Italy has risen in recent years, data released by the Beijing Office of the Italian Trade Commission reveals.
China's imports from Italy touched US $290 million in 2009, accounting for about 17 percent of Chinese overall apparel imports in 2009.
Of which, woven garments accounted for about 68 percent and knitwear exports accounted for 32 percent of all garment exports.
Woven men suits, women exterior garment, knitting T-shirts and sweaters formed larger proportions in imports of clothing from Italy.
Italy is also a major fabric supplier to China. China imported $145 million worth of wool fabrics from Italy in 2009, accounting for 33 percent of imported wool fabrics into China.
