Sam's Outdoor Outfitters intends on opening of a new store in Hadley, Massachusetts, and will therefore shut down Bellows Falls store by May end. Experts were surprised on hearing about the store's closure, as the closure will result in one of Hadley's most discernible storefronts.

Sam's, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, has received an approval from the Hadley Planning Board, to undertake revamp of its store at 227 Russell St., the site of former Army-Navy supply store.

As the company was witnessing dwindling business since a couple of years, its officials decided to take steps to boost the same. A few experts from the industry are making an attempt to find options to save Bellows Falls store from closure.

The store in Bellows Falls was started by Sam Borofsky and his brother, Irving, in 1947. Sam established his first Army-Navy surplus store in Brattleboro in the year 1932 and went on to become the sole owner of the Bellows Falls store in 1958.
