Stip, the largest town in eastern Macedonia and a center of the country's textile and fashion industry, is turning out to be an attraction for UK based apparel and fashion retailers.
A few of these retailers are in search of apparel manufacturing units to source their requirements of clothing and consider this town as a reliable destination with good transportation and logistics facilities.
Stip has around 80 apparel manufacturing units and provides employment to around 7,000 people. Before the crisis unfolded in 2008, exports from the apparel sector in Stip totaled to US $500 million.
UK is the second biggest buyer of textiles and clothing after Germany in the European Union and their retailers are very particular about quality and reliability from their sourcing partners.
