An agreement has been signed between Courtaulds Clothing and Sri Lanka's Board of Investment (BOI) to establish knitted fabric manufacturing plant for the purpose of exports with an investment of over US $3.5 million. This plant will be located at Badalgama, in the island's north-west region, as per BOI.
Courtaulds Clothing has export-oriented cloth manufacturing plants in Sri Lanka, which exports its products to major western retail brands. BOI has approved Courtaulds Trading Badalgama's investment of $100,000 to establish the export trading house.
This investment is among the six investments of a total of $7 million, approved by BOI, in the apparel, home appliances, rubber and software sectors. These sectors are likely to generate 700 jobs.
