May '10
The European Union announced 17 recalls of children's clothing in April 2010 alone, among them, Chinese products accounted for 10 cases. The EU announced 7 recalls of plush toys, among them, Chinese products accounted for 4 cases.

The EU announced 2 recalls of children's toys and costumes, both of which had originated from China. Electric blankets made in China were recalled because the product did not meet fire safety regulations.

The occurrence of such cases is not accidental, as among 92 textile and apparel products recalled by the EU in the first five months of last year, Chinese products accounted for 65 cases, an increase of 442 percent year on year.

Chinese experts aver that, recall cases create a negative impact on Chinese exports and sullies the image of the manufacturing industry and advice exporters to incorporate regulations related to the importing country, while designing the product.
