Hunter Apparel Solutions (Ltd) has fetched the contract of supplying new uniforms to Health and Social Care (HSC) workers in Northern Ireland for the next five years. A standardized uniform has been introduced for the first time in all areas of HSC in Northern Ireland.
Hunter Apparel Solutions has a staff of 41 employees, at present, and is based in Londonderry.
While talking about the introduction of this new high quality uniform for HSC workers, Michael McGimpsey, Health Minister stated that, the key purpose of introducing a standardized uniform is to help patients and clients recognize the staff.
The Minister was speaking at the Belfast City hospital wherein the new uniform was unveiled. This uniform will also represent the professional aspect of the service and HSC workers. These workers will don the new uniform from the early months of 2011.
Uniforms of the HSC workers will be replaced on a phased basis, he added. An average of £1 million each year has been spent from Trust budgets for uniforms of HSC staff, over the past two years.
