The apparent President, Benigno Aquino III has been urged by the Trade Union Congress of Philippine (TUCP) to undertake negotiations with American policymakers, in order to pass a bill, which will prove to be helpful to perk up the textile and garment trade between US and Philippine, generating a number of job opportunities in both the countries, revealed a TUCP press release.

The press release quoted former Senator, Ernesto Herrera, that, the powerful fresh mandate of Aquino offers him a stand to influence key US legislators to approve the bill, which will offer greater access to the Philippine apparels produced from American fabrics, into the US market for men, women and children's clothing, worth about $200 billion per year.

Herrera also said that, this bill is equally valuable for both the countries as it will generate a number of new jobs in Philippine's labor-intensive clothing industry as well as in the America's textile sector. Garment goods are the country's second-largest exports to the US.

With the approval of this bill, a lot of American apparel producers will build factories in Manila or will increase their contract-production activities in the country. These apparel producers will bring in American fabrics into the country, offering job to a number of Filipino workers. These workers will design, cut and sew the clothing, followed by exporting these ready-to-wear apparels back to the US, concluded Herrera.
