Fila sportswear to step into Indian markets

Italian sportswear lifestyle brand, Fila is planning to set up operations in India in the clothing category in a market which is growing at 15-18 percent per annum. It will mainly be introducing sweatshirts, tracksuits, jackets, polos, track-pants and T-Shirts.

A senior Indian company official of Fila, who spoke to fibre2fashion said, “We have marked our presence in India for some time we have a good range of shoes which is doing really well. Now we are planning to extend our brand by adding the apparel range to it and launch a full fledged range of apparels which you can expect to see very soon”.

Regarding expectations from the segment and the target consumer, he observed by saying, “This segment is something that we are yet to explore so cannot say much about it. Our target is youth, young corporate executives, fitness freaks & people who follow latest trends.”

However he was not willing to divulge plans of opening exclusive brand outlets (EBOs). Fila has already launched its footwear range in the Indian market and has marked its presence in about 700 multi brand outlets (MBOs) across the country.
