Beginning from April, clothing manufacturers and exporters have been facing extensive electric power outages which are disrupting their production schedules.
This is also creating a direct impact on the export delivery schedules. Workers can be seen idling away at the thousands of garment producing factories due to the power cuts.
Many of the enterprises are also paying penalties to their buyers for the delay or are air-lifting their consignments at a great cost in order to meet the delivery deadlines.
The biggest hurdle that these units face is that the power cuts take place at any time of the day, due to which they to pay their workers for sitting idle during the period of outage.
They have advised the electric utility service to have time bound electric cuts so that they may re-arrange their production schedules in line with the cuts.
