Tri-Star to employ 600 women from former war-hit zones

Tri-Star Apparel Exports as part of its commitment to employ people from rehabilitation centres in the former war-hit zones of the north will select 600 women for employment in garment factories at Dambadeniya and Nikaweratiya.

300 women each will be provided work at Dambadeniya in the second phase and Nikaweratiya in the third phase. The company Chairman had promised to employ 1,200 women from these rehabilitation centres.

Along with opening a training institute in the Poonthottam rehabilitation camp to train these women on the garment industry, Tri-Star has also employed 200 ex-LTTE cadres at its garment factory in Trincomalee.
