Polo Ralph + Wimbledon deal to feature Boris Becker

Polo Ralph Lauren continues its global partnership with the All England Club, Wimbledon as the Official Outfitter of The Wimbledon Championships until 2015. With this partnership, Polo Ralph Lauren continues to serve as the Official Outfitter of all on-court officials including chair umpires, line umpires and ball persons. In 2006, Polo Ralph Lauren became the first designer in Wimbledon's 133-year history to create official uniforms for the tournament.

As part of this year's event, Polo Ralph Lauren will introduce the first ever Legends Clinic, a live interactive virtual tennis clinic featuring tennis great Boris Becker.

“Wimbledon is the world's premier sporting event and we are honored to continue our relationship and support the greatest tennis legends of our time,” said David Lauren, Senior Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Celebrating its fifth year as Official Outfitter of The Wimbledon Championships, fashion returns to Centre Court with a modern array of sportswear inspired by the elegance and sophisticated heritage of English tennis. Classic cabled tennis sweaters are reworked with stylish tank tops and cable-knit vests. The Wimbledon blazer appears in cream jersey with navy ribbon piping and the classic tennis dress appears as a white mesh slim fit halter dress. Recalling the elegant heritage of the game, chic navy blazers, button down shirts, repp ties and ribbon belts are shown in the tournament's signature shades of Wimbledon Bentley green. The Polo Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Collection is available at select Ralph Lauren stores, including Ralph Lauren freestanding stores and online at RalphLauren.com only in the US.

“We are thrilled to have renewed our partnership with Polo Ralph Lauren,” says Ian Ritchie, Chief Executive of the All England Club, Wimbledon. “The Polo Ralph Lauren association adds a touch of sophistication and style which is perfectly in line with the Wimbledon heritage.”

The Wimbledon Championships (June 21 – July 4) are attended by an average of 500,000 visitors each year. The Championships draw viewers for a cumulative audience of 378.8 million across 182 countries worldwide with 11,960 hours broadcast in 2009.

This announcement reinforces Polo Ralph Lauren's leadership in major sporting initiatives. The company also serves as the Official Apparel Sponsor of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships and will be the Proud Outfitter for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Polo Ralph Lauren also sponsors an elite roster of professional golfers, as well as the Blackwatch Polo Team.
