Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) has accredited the Barcelona-based manufacturer Casas y Castellet a one-year certificate in complying with principles on corporate social responsibility including lawful, ethical, humane and environmental production.

The recognition marks Castellet as one of the newly WRAP-certified international manufacturers that have achieved the accomplishment of social and environmental compliance.

“For Casas y Castellet, the new WRAP certification not only means a responsibility to be compromised with the 12 principles of the original protocol, but also proves the correct standards that have been applied by our company,” said Jordi Castellet Torrents, CEO of Casas y Castellet. “Being on the market since 1942, the award puts a green label to our history. This also gives us the opportunity to network with WRAP certified facilities around the world and collaborate with our consumers that are demanding social compliance standards.”

WRAP Certification program is the world's largest facility-based social and environmental compliance program. It is based on 12 Principles focusing on compliance with local laws, workplace regulations, universal workers' rights, the environment, customs compliance and security. Facilities that demonstrate proper adoption, deployment and monitoring of all 12 Principles receive certification for six months to two years. In 2009 alone, over 1,600 companies from 69 countries have been certified by WRAP.

“I'm very pleased that the third generation owner of Casas y Castellet, Jordi Castellet, has chosen to participate in our certification program. Their commitment to social and environmental responsibility is the same as their designs: forward-thinking and ahead of many of their competitors. It is an honor to have this company on our roster of certified facilities.”, WRAP's CEO Mr. Steve Jesseph said.

Established in 1942, Casas y Castellet is a NECKTIE, SCARVES and ACCESSORIES manufacturer. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, the company sells not only in its national market, but also expands to international markets including Mexico, the USA, Australia, China and the UK with assistance from the Spanish Government International Plans (ICEX).
