Indian apparel firms lend hand to Vietnamese businesses

Apparel industries of India wish to provide high-quality material as well as technology assistance to Vietnamese businesses. This was stated during a conference, organized during leading Indian cotton manufacturers' and exporters' week-long visit to Vietnam to explore new co-operation opportunities.

Pertaining to this, Chairman, Indian Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, VS Valayuthum, said that, both the countries could avail benefits through the co-operation of their apparel firms.

Valayuthum opined that, clothing firms of Vietnam should take part in relevant conferences, exhibitions and fairs and particularly in the Indian International Garment Fair that is to be organized in February next year.

Vietnamese apparel exports will reach US $10.5 billion till the end of current year, said Nguyen Thi Hong Tin, Market Research Director, Viet Nam National Textile and Garment Group.

Vietnam is the country, which enjoys its place among leading 10 textile and apparel exporters of the world, but have to purchase most of the raw materials from overseas markets.

During the initial five months of the current year, Vietnam imported material worth $3.7 billion for clothing and footwear sector, as per the General Statistics Office.
