Macy's, Inc. announced it will open a Macy's store in Tracy, CA, in fall 2010. The one-level, 101,000-square-foot Macy's in the West Valley Mall will be in a former Gottschalk's location. The mall is owned and operated by General Growth Properties.

In Tracy, Macy's will offer a full range of apparel and accessories for women, men and children, as well as housewares, home textiles and luggage. The store will employ approximately 130 associates.

"We believe shoppers in Tracy and the surrounding region will respond enthusiastically to the distinctive fashion, obvious value and exciting shopping experience for which Macy's is known," said Ron Klein, Macy's chief stores officer. "We are especially excited, given that this will be Macy's first presence in Tracy, which is uniquely situated at the confluence of the San Francisco, San Jose, Modesto and Stockton metropolitan areas. We will tailor the Macy's offering in Tracy to meet the preferences of customers who live and work there, and we expect to be active members of the community."

Macy's, Inc., with corporate offices in Cincinnati and New York, is one of the nation's premier retailers, with fiscal 2009 sales of $23.5 billion. The company operates about 850 department stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico under the names of Macy's and Bloomingdale's. The company also operates macys.com and bloomingdales.com. Prior to June 1, 2007, Macy's, Inc. was known as Federated Department Stores, Inc.
