Positive comparable store sales performance, Burlington Coat

Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation announced that net sales for the second quarter ended July 31, 2010 were $728.8 million compared with $701.0 million for the comparative period ended August 1, 2009, a 4.0% increase. Comparative store sales increased 0.3% for the quarter.
Net sales from continuing operations for the six months ended July 31, 2010 were $1.624 billion compared with $1.531 billion for the comparative period ended August 1, 2009, a 6.0% increase. These results reflect a 1.9% comparative store sales increase for the period.
Tom Kingsbury, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “We are pleased to report our second consecutive quarter with a positive comparable store sales performance which contributed to a total sales increase of 6.0% for the Spring season. We continue to stay focused on driving sales through our top three priorities: merchandise content, the store experience and receipt management.”
As of July 31, 2010, the Company operated 447 stores in 44 states and Puerto Rico, principally under the name “Burlington Coat Factory”.
