Fashion retailer Asos, now intends to lay more focus on the core young fashion market and is now planning to scale down its kidswear offerings.

Asos, in an endeavour to expand its product portfolio, launched its personalized kidswear offer Little Asos in February 2008. The retailer also sells kidswear bearing other labels like Ralph Lauren and Little Joules. Also there is cut throat competition in the kidswear market, with giants like Marks & Spencer and Next having a stronghold over the market.

Rob Bready, Asos Product and Trading Director said that, as a part of its continuous efforts to develop the fashion market for youngsters, Asos.com is to shut down its kidswear division in the current year-end.

This would allow the company to direct both its manpower as well as infrastructural resources towards core development areas that is, fashion driven products for trend driven customers in the age group of 18-34 years.
