Pakistan Apparel Forum (PAF) recently drew attention to the fact the Regional Tax Office (RTO) is not releasing Sales Tax Refund Claims of value-added textile exporters totalling to billions of rupees' and have demanded urgent intervention of the government to sort out the matter.

PAF Chairman, Javed Bilwani said that, with mounting business expenses, exporters in the country are now undergoing the worst of liquidity crisis.

Textiles exporters are exerting hard to rise above the adversities of competition extended by the adjoining and other competitor nations in the global markets, and are struggling to bring in the badly required foreign exchange to country's economy.

Meanwhile, this sheer indifference in releasing the Sales Tax Refund Claims of these exporters', is adding to the woes of the textile exporters.

Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association, a co-member, which provided RTO with a fully fledged computer system along with a printer by way of donation to help the organization accelerate its process of clearing refund claims, stated that, its act has not reaped any positive result and the exporters are still suffering.
