Prada and Vivienne Westwood are all set to support apparel producing firms in Bulgaria, to help them cope with the global crisis.

Statistics released by Bulgarian Association of Apparel and Textile Producers and Exporters (BAATPE) reveal that, Bulgarian companies involved in production of clothes and textile materials, export around 90 percent of their produce.

Italy, Germany and Greece are the leading importers of fashion products and clothes from Bulgaria.

Also, bulk orders flowing from exporters like Boss, Mexx and Max Mara, has not only helped the dress-making sector in Bulgaria to survive the crisis, but has also contributed to development of the sector. In 2009, the textile and fabric sector registered a negative growth of 60 percent vis-à-vis that in 2008.

Further, in 2010 the sector not only recovered the fall completely, but is also hopeful of registering a growth of 20 percent, by end of the year. Bulgarian firms export their clothes to the EU and USA.
