An investment of €16 million (US $21.8 million) is being undertaken by the Italian hosiery, undergarment and swim outfit manufacturer Calzedonia, in a new lingerie unit which is located about 150 km in the north-west of the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
The new Fiorano unit occupies a total area of 12,000 square metres and will engage 600 workers by May 2011. The opening ceremony of the unit was attended by Boris Tadic – the Serbian President, Sandro Veronesi – the Gruppo Calzedonia President and Armando Varricchio – the Italian ambassador in Serbia.
Calzedonia, which was established in 1987, has over 1250 stores throughout the world and owns brands like Cash&Carry, Tezenis, Falconeri and Intimissimi.
