The Labor Minister of Bangladesh – Khandker Mosharraf Hossain stated that, the new wage structure for the readymade garment workers, which was announced on 29th July, will be effective from 1st November.

He said that there will be discussions with representatives of all the parties, who are members of the wage board, to resolve the objections but the new wage structure will come into effect from 1st November.

The Minister also requested the apparel workers not to be misled by the Non Governmental Organizations and to avoid street demonstrations, sabotage, disorder and arson.

He demanded that both the factory owners as well as laborers should create a proper atmosphere in the apparel industry by giving up the course of confrontation.

He further added that any kind of conflict must be avoided and the government is always there to resolve the challenges as a third party. There are units to deal with any emergency arising out of the situation.
