Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in association with the Inditex , a leading Spanish retailer has set up a testing laboratory at BGMEA's Dhaka office in order to carry out chemical and dye analysis of clothing products meant for exports.
BGMEA President Abdus Salam Murshedy, while speaking at the foundation ceremony divulged that, Inditex would be providing technical know-how for establishing the laboratory, which would soon go functional.
The Spanish retailer, with 4,607 outlets across 74 countries, finds place amongst world's leading fashion retailers.
As and when this lab commences its operations, it would facilitate the exporters to get their exportable clothing products tested here, by paying a prescribed fee, Murshedy said. Right now, the exporters rely on some of the international laboratories for obtaining such testing certification.
BGMEA, on April 29 this year, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Inditex in Spain for establishing a testing lab in Bangladesh.
