FYR Macedonia's apparels draws UK & German buyers

Over 20 apparel firms from FYR Macedonia convened meetings during the recent annual Apparel Buyer's Week event which happened during October 4 to 8, to talk out the probabilities of export deals coming from six UK and Germany based buyers. These buyers have expressed their interest to expand their supplier base with inclusion of apparel producers from FYR Macedonian.

USAID FYR Macedonia Competiveness Project (MCP) conducted this second FYR Macedonia – E.U. Apparel Buyers Week, in association with, the Dutch Center for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO), the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the FYR Macedonia Textile Trade Association.

Joseph Lessard, USAID Economic Growth Director, stated that USAID is enabling FYR Macedonia to grow more competitive in the world economy. He further stated that, by means of their Competitiveness Project, they provide backing to programmes like the current Apparel Buyers Week, intended to help the apparel firms in FYR Macedonia to better explore new and value-added export markets in Europe.

The recent meetings were convened as a follow-up to last March's Business to Business (B2B) event which brought about many new product varieties and orders. Whereas a UK client who attended the event has placed orders for the second time, other two prospective buyers are carrying out testing and sampling of the products. The event even attracted other buyers from UK, who have now shown keen interest in FYR Macedonia.
