As per the official statistics, Cambodia's garment and textile exports for the period January to September of current year has soared by almost 17 percent to touch US $2.27 billion as against $1.94 billion recorded during corresponding period last year.

United States accounted for around 58 percent or say $1.32 billion worth of country's overall garment and textile exports, which is a year on year rise of 13.3 percent.

Exports to Europe too rose by 15.86 percent to touch $563.8 million, while there has also been a sharp rise of 29 percent in shipments to other countries which came to $353.4 million.

Prime Minister Hun Sen divulged the above facts in his speech at graduation ceremony at National Institute of Education at Phnom Penh on October 18.

He averred that, all businesses should know about Asia's contribution in boosting exports, and that the region was recuperating at a greater pace than even the US and European markets.

The Premier further stated that, presently what needs to be done is to expand in new markets, while keeping hold of the old ones.
