In tandem with this, we also have our sights set on establishing flagship stores in major cities in Europe and U.S. Our SOHO New York global flagship store, which opened three years ago, continued to enjoy extremely robust sales, which rose approximately 40% year on year. In the fall of 2011, this store is to be joined by a second New York global flagship store on the major thoroughfare of Fifth Avenue, as we look to boost the profile of UNIQLO and incite demand for our high-quality casual wear in the U.S. At the same time, we will continue to open stores in major cities in Europe.
Pursuing Intra-group Synergies to Drive Business Expansion Among Group businesses, our g.u. operation also performed well, opening its one-hundredth stores in fiscal 2010. We feel that with g.u. we are on the brink of a major market breakthrough that could allow us to establish a promising new low-priced casual wear business.
In addition, our Theory operation posted strong earnings gains. Moving ahead, we are looking to harness the platforms of Theory and our COMPTOIR DES COTONNIERS brand to expand their store networks globally and achieve synergies within the Group.
