The Ministry of Textiles had organized an exhibition of winter wears - 'Wool Fab' at Kanpur, which showcased a whole range of woollen outfits in various colours and textures. The expo had started on December 5 and ended on December 18.

There are actually less variety available in winter apparels in the domestic markets of Kanpur, which limits the scope for the fashion lovers to try new styles to give a face-lift to them. But then, the expo 'Wool Fab' displayed best quality winter wears.

A wide range of various winter apparels ranging right from mufflers to shawls and long jackets from various states like Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, had been displayed at the expo. The expo distinguished itself from other expositions held recently in the city, as all the apparels showcased were handmade and also the apparels like kurtis, shawls, jackets and coats featured the ethnicity of their state. Every stall was quite distinct and the products showcased, too, were very much alluring.

The stall from Gujarat, with its 'bandhej' prints in woollen fabric had succeeded in grabbing attention of a large number of visitors. Mainly the people who are fond of handmade items got attracted by this stall because these apparels are prepared from organic fabric and are known for their attractiveness and the touch of elegance.

Likewise, the Himachal Pradesh stall, too, had substantially drawn the attention of the ladies visiting the fair, with various kinds of shawls prepared from Angoora wool, Chamba wool and Kinnauri wool, which were available at a price of Rs 2,000 and above. Apart from the shawls with traditional feel and print, other designer stoles and long coats, popular not only amongst the sari-clad women but even amongst the figure conscious young girls, were also put up for sale at the stall.

The stall from Jaipur showcased lightweight designer quilts which came in dark to bright shades and embellished in floral prints and exotic trendy designs.

Also, in spite of being too expensive, Kashmir's Pashmina shawls, too, met with good demand, particularly the ones with Persian or floral prints.

Amongst other items showcased by various states at the expo were included, mufflers and woollen caps from Bagheshwar and Uttrakhand and Himalyan jackets, ladies coats and gowns from Manali.
