The export of apparels and textile products from Egypt to United States registered a hike of 13 percent from January to October, last year thereby touching $857 million as against $770 million recorded over the corresponding period in 2009.
The information has been quoted in a report on apparel and textile exports of Egypt to US. The report is a part of the follow up process which has been initiated after the execution of a national policy intended at enhancing the exports to EGP 200 billion by the year 2013.
According to the report, the increase in apparel and textile exports was largely because of the 16 percent hike in the volume of textiles and yarn exported to US and a 20.6 percent hike in the export of carpets and linen.
Egypt ranks 17th among the major nations that export apparels and textiles to the US market and 16th among the apparel exporting nations of the world.
