Haglöfs has set a target that at least 30 percent of the volume produced in the Clothing product area should consist of recycled material by 2012. The equivalent target for Hardware is 15 percent. Also, at least 30 percent of clothing must consist of bluesign-approved material. In addition, the Company's greenhouse gases (CO2) generated from energy consumption in Sweden, business travel and transport from manufacturers to Haglöfs' warehouses must be reduced by 50 percent compared with 2008.

"It's clear that we're on track," says Lennart Ekberg. "For winter 2011, we have increased the Clothing product area's number of sustainable models made of recycled materials, bluesign-approved materials or both by 75 percent. In Insulation,16 out of 20 models are made of recycled materials, while the entire Mid-layer collection is made of bluesign-approved materials, to name just a couple of examples."

Haglöfs' sustainability product initiatives begin in the design stage and are a key parameter throughout the product development process. Sustainability is now so natural, that most people at Haglöfs don't give it a second thought; it is an integral part of every issue, every item of work – every day of the year.

"It is our vision to be a leader in sustainability, but it's preferable to see this as a goal, as we are convinced that we're going all the way. How could a brand like Haglöfs do otherwise? After all, there would be no outdoor activity without an unspoiled and living natural environment and healthy people," concludes Lennart Ekberg.

Haglöfs is one of the world's leading outdoor suppliers and offers a responsible brand that meets modern day demands for products with a high level of functionality, good design and value for money to people who invest in an active outdoor lifestyle. Sales for 2009 amounted to SEK 590 million and the company has over the last five years achieved an average growth of 15.8 percent.
