Mr A. Sakthivel, President of Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA)welcomes the export incentives announcements made by Hon'ble Commerce Minister (11.2.2011) and the incentives would help to enhance competitiveness of labour intensive sectors including textiles.

We wish to mention that after assumption of the office by the Hon'ble Minister, the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-2014 was presented at a time when the export sectors were facing the crisis due to global recession and the newly announced policy had greatly helped to our export sectors and helped to increase our competitiveness in the global market. The initiative of Hon'ble Minister to have continuous regular interaction with the export sectors have straightaway helped to address the issues.

We are sure that with the right kind of initiatives, this year the merchandise exports will reach the set target of US $ 200 billion.

Sir, the knitwear garment sector is still facing the lot of problems and we require support from the Hon'ble Minister to face the competition in the US market and we request you to kindly announce the Market Linked Focus Product Scheme (MLFPS) at 2% for the knitwear garments for exports made to US also for one year.
