Hong Kong is a vital exporting destination for Indian apparel products. Apparel Export Promotion Council - AEPC has been playing a key role in promoting apparel export to the country from India. This time of the year Hong Kong Fashion Week did an incredible business wherein the Indian exhibitors have fetched business deals for US$ 1, 06, 69, 550 from the foreign exhibitors. It took place from January 17 to January 20, 2011.

World's second largest and Asia's largest fashion event organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall / Winter offered a fantastic spread of the very latest in apparel, accessories and fashion-related products from high-end fashion to mass merchandise, to buyers from all over the world. With the encouragement from AEPC to promote export of readymade garments, Indian exhibitors got a great exposure at the event and made approximately 626 contacts including 474 new contacts.

The representatives from AEPC were Mr Premal Udani, Chairman, Mr Ashok Rajani, Chairman, Export Promotion, Mr JS Variaah, Consul (commercial and passport), Consulate General of India, Mr Rakesh Vaid, and Executive Committee Member.

This year it attracted approximately 1700 exhibitors from over 24 countries around the world with over 21,000 visitors to the fair. This year too the Hong Kong Fashion Week served as a great platform for the buyers and sellers to interact with each other. The targeted visitors for this grand event were importers, volume buyers and purchasing managers who want to source direct from competitive suppliers.

There were 49 participants with 70 booths from India to showcase a range of apparel products like blouse, skirts, children wears, shirts, scarves, stoles, shawls, sportswear, muffler, leather belt, menswear etc.

One of the Indian exhibitors at the event, Mr A.S.Sawhney of M/S Sawhney Brothers said, “An excellent arrangement has been made by AEPC. I hope that a similar cooperation is extended to exporters in the future too."
